Evan Kinori, Clothing Designer

San Francisco, CA

On a quintessential kind of San Francisco morning – cool, damp, a morning made for hitting ‘Snooze’ – Evan Kinori is curled up at the sewing machine of his Hayes Valley studio, his shoulders wrapped in a wool scarf. Classical guitar music twangs gently on the stereo.
Every piece is made to Kinori’s standards first. He lives, works, and skates in his clothes. He has, essentially created his ever-evolving dream closet. “My attitude with design– whether it’s furniture, clothes, or kitchen wares – is always: If you love the object, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. Maybe you can just afford to buy one plate, but every day you eat off it, and think ‘Yes, I love this plate.’”
