In curatorial studies, the order of research goes like this: Begin with the object. Be it a watercolor painting, a grocery store receipt, or an old sock — before diving into the history, the bibliography, the catalog. First, examine and inspect. Pick it up, turn it upside down.
Permanent Collection’s approach to curation follows a similar method. Its edit of “timeless objects and garments for a modern lifestyle,” differs according to new discoveries. Today, a luxurious, vibrant silk scarf; an elegantly draped woolen overcoat; drinking vessels crafted from blown glass; handmade earrings made from turquoise and recycled gold.
